Thousands and thousands of years ago the Neanderthals would wear fur coats to themselves warm, not for fashion as it is done today. Humans would kill the animals such as beaver, wolf, mink, fox, etc. wearing a fur coat was the symbol of richness, such as a sign or royalty or high ranking men. Today thankfully there is fur that is called faux or fake fur.

Mens faux fur coats are not seen so much today, but they are around. You will see them mainly in large cities such as New York or even San Francisco. The Rolling Stones always wore faux fur coats and that is when they became popular among men. The most flattering style of mens faux fur coats are either knee length or full length, going all the way down to the ankles. Of course the longer it is, the warmer you will be.

The material made for mens faux fur coats varies. If a man is small boned or has a large frame sable and mink would be a good choice for them. Fashion people will tell you when choosing a faux fax coat chose one that is close to your natural hair color. It really flatters the face and will look good on you. Back in the roaring twenties men wore full length furs made of chinchilla and even today you will see it around.

Very well liked mens faux fur coats are the bomber jackets. They are usually about twenty eight inches in length and have a front zipper and side pockets that are almost hidden. Some are made of faux sable or fox. Some men like to wear coats that are made of faux fur animal prints, such as leopard.

Back in the seventies and eighties you would see men wear faux fur made of leopard, they were usually hip length, maAmazing vintage 1960s leopard faux fur tent style car coat. One style that was seen was the trapeze style; it had a wide collar, raglan sleeves, and two large buttons. They were fully lined and these were great for spring and warm winter days.

Mens faux fur coats are worn a lot in the colder climates such as Canada and a few European countries. Men dress for warmth most of the time in these regions, but like to look good as well. Parkas are very well liked, because they also have hoods that have fur collars. Think of the men up in the Antarctica. All you see is there faces, and sometimes not even that.
